Position Overview

The Host/Hostess at Haven is the first and last impression of the guest experience. This role is responsible for creating a warm, refined, and seamless arrival and departure experience, reflecting the elevated standards and ambiance of Haven. The host must embody professionalism, charm, and attention to detail while managing reservations, seating flow, and guest relations with precision.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

  • Greet every guest with warmth, elegance, and genuine hospitality upon arrival
  • Escort guests to their table while presenting the venue with confidence and knowledge
  • Maintain a poised and professional presence at all times
  • Anticipate guest needs and personalize the experience when possible (VIPs, repeat guests, special occasions)
  • Ensure a memorable first and last impression for every guest

Reservations & Seating Management

  • Manage reservations using the booking system efficiently and accurately
  • Control the flow of the dining room to optimize seating while maintaining service quality
  • Coordinate with managers and wait staff to ensure smooth table turnover
  • Handle walk-ins strategically without disrupting reservations
  • Maintain an accurate waitlist and provide realistic wait times

Communication

  • Act as the central communication point between guests, servers, and management
  • Relay important guest information (VIP status, allergies, celebrations) to the team
  • Handle guest inquiries in person and over the phone with professionalism and clarity

Appearance & Environment

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing host stand
  • Ensure entrance area reflects Haven’s luxury standards at all times
  • Uphold impeccable grooming and dress code standards

Problem Resolution

  • Handle guest concerns or complaints calmly and professionally
  • Escalate issues to management when necessary while maintaining guest satisfaction
  • Remain composed under pressure during peak service hours

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high-end restaurant, lounge, or hospitality environment preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced setting
  • Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) is a plus
