Position Overview
The Food & Drink Runner at Haven plays a critical role in delivering a seamless and elevated dining experience. This position ensures that all food and beverages are delivered promptly, accurately, and with exceptional presentation, maintaining the highest standards of service, timing, and communication between the kitchen, bar, and front-of-house team.
This role is fast-paced and detail-oriented, requiring strong coordination, awareness, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Service Execution
- Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guests quickly and efficiently
- Ensure all dishes are presented according to Haven’s standards before leaving the pass
- Announce dishes clearly and confidently when serving, describing key elements when appropriate
- Maintain proper sequence and timing of courses in coordination with servers and kitchen staff
Quality Control
- Double-check orders for accuracy, presentation, and completeness before delivery
- Ensure correct table numbers, seat positions, and modifications are followed precisely
- Communicate immediately with kitchen or bar if discrepancies arise
Guest Experience
- Maintain a polished, professional presence at all times
- Support servers in delivering a smooth and attentive guest experience
- Respond quickly to guest needs by relaying requests to the appropriate team member
- Assist in clearing plates and resetting tables when needed
Team Coordination
- Act as a bridge between kitchen, bar, and service team
- Communicate clearly with chefs, bartenders, and servers to ensure timing and flow
- Assist in expediting during peak service periods
Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep service stations clean, stocked, and organized at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of trays, utensils, and running areas
- Follow all sanitation and hygiene standards
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant experience preferred, especially in high-volume or upscale environments
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to carry trays and lift up to 15kg
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
